Good device for Home use
This device is fast, great for home use and is fairly fast. The setup is very easy however make sure you read all the tips as some firewalls will prohibit the software to see the device. The Marketing and box states it will run at 1GB Ethernet speeds. This is true BUT NOT WITH THE SUPPLIED ACCESSORIES. They give you a CAT5 cable which can only achieve 100MB speeds. I would think most people do not know that fact and would cause them to wonder why the device is slow. I did buy a CAT5e cable for $3 to replace it and it does run at the stated 1GB speed with my supplied cable. Quite cheap of Netgear in my mind. Netgear would not replace the cable after numerous attempts. Otherwise the device is working fine.

great backup system
Bought this to backup my laptop for my home business. I keep it hooked up to the wireless router, which is in a different room, on a different floor of our house. I also bought a second 2tb drive to raid with the 2tb drive that comes with the unit. Just plug and play, the raid took several hours to create, but it works and is super-easy. The software/utilities that come with the unit are helpful, and make it easier to use. I do my backups with Syncbak software, and it works well with it. Speed over my wireless network is decent, acceptable. Getting 2tb mirrored is a bargain for this price, and I sleep better at night knowing that my work data gets backed up every evening. I'd buy it again.

Great NAS for Home or Small Groups
This is the third ReadyNAS device I have purchased and installed. The first was one made by Infrant before they were acquired by Netgear. They have all been easy to setup/use, reliable and a great value for the money.I was a little surprised that Active Directory user authentication is not supported on this model. If I had read the description on the company site more carefully, I would have known this, but I assumed this device used the same OS as the others I had purchased. It does, but this feature has been removed from this particular model. A disappointment, but not a deal-breaker.

Great server
I have 2 macs and 2 pc in the home. This device is totally compatible with all my devices. My directtv box sees the device.Installed perfectly and the noise coming from the box is quieter than my pc.Works flawlessly with Mac time machine backup software.
