Q: With holes in filter, how does it keep the allergens out? What fills in the vents?

Those are for exhaust, you inhale through the filtered mask 😷 (the insert is replaceable the mask itself is washable). The black exhausts remove to replace the filter and allow the mask to be washed. Love mine 💜💚

Q: Are the valves filtered? If not then unfiltered air is coming in/going out of the valve every time you breathe, or am I missing something?

You can buy filter that cover the valve. I have 2 of these from different companies, 1 the files have holes for the valve the other the filter covers. Unless you got the filters that cover the valve, yes the air being exhaled would be unfiltered. For people who suffer from severe allergies, this would be good. For covid-19, this mask wouldn't help unless you have the full filter.

Q: There are no instructions on how to install the filters. Where are they?

You set the filter into the inside of the mask and pop the respirator pieces through the holes provided. The filter will be up against your face. There is no pocket, if that's what you are looking for?

Q: Are these N95 filters certified?

I personally don’t ont use them, but I wish I did I send them down to the southern Oregon, where they get the fires just like California and my sons family appreciates the refill filters very much . I appreciat the price and the quality. My so. Feels safe with them and I go with that. He is a military veteran after all.
