First Impressions Good
6/24/2024I wasn't sure what to really expect with the ACERFARM ACE-500. There are very few reviews out there and nothing from 3rd-party professional testing on this light. It struck me as rather "gimmicky" at first glance, but I was looking for a 4x4 light and thought I would give it a try.Packaging was good. The individual LED panels had padding between each layer for shipping. The fixture was secured in a high-density foam and even had a thick plastic layer protecting the LED panels. The enclosed hardware items were secured well. The instructions are very simplistic, but do the job for a plug-and-play fixture. Amazon did ship the item in it's original box, and it's clearly marked as a "grow light" so there is no digression taken in that regard. At 27 lbs, it is on the heavy side but given the mechanical aspect of this light and it's panel size it is expected. The mounting points are plastic, but reinforced in a L-shape. The included cables are heavy-duty. The ratchet cams for raising/lowering the assembly are generic and typical for hanging lights. The power cord is built-in and adequately long at 14.5 feet. Also included is an RJ12 cable (more on that later). With some preparation, I was able to hang it by myself but you may want a friend assisting you.The unit powered up as expected. The controller is quiet, but does run a bit hot (again, as expected). I tested both the closed and fully extended positions and correct LEDs were operational for each position (when retracted, the covered sections shut off). The fixture is very bright at full power. My PPFD tests surprisingly matched most the manufacture's mapping (something I wasn't expecting). I did not measure the actual UV output, yet. The built-in dimmer appears to be adequate with 25/50/75/100 selections. There is one question that I cannot find an answer to regarding the operation of the light. The dimmer has settings for 25/50/75/100 and OFF. It also has a selection marked "EXT" that is beyond the OFF position. There are IN/OUT ports for the RJ12 connection. I realize that this light can be daisy-chained, though there is NO mention of this in the documentation. But looking at the way the dimmer is set up (*see image) , the "EXT" (external) position appears to be for a remote controlled dimmer/timer. The dimmer is mentioned as being 0-10v in the documentations, which is standard for remote dimmer/timer operation (example: AC Infinity Controller 69-Pro). But I can find no supporting documentation regarding remote control.Overall, I am quite pleased as a first impression. I'm only rating this at 4 stars until I can find an answer about remote controller operation. If it has it, that is a nice bonus. If it does not it will not negatively effect my rating. I'm only taking off one star because I cannot find the information. Hopefully I will and I can bump this up to five stars.

Heavy build quality is better than many at this 200 budget range 500 watt BRIGHT ASS LIGHT
It is Built nicely as the weight listed is 25lbs. At least. at 75% power 16" ppfd thru the photon app with a paper filter. Not sure if it is white 20lb recommended filter paper. 4 corners @ southwest corner of grow room. 700 ppfd @16" above canopy 75 % power setting 25 % increments north west corner 675 ppfd left middle 1150ppfd left center 1440 1410 right center east 900 west1040ppfd. My room this time of the year in NE Ohio 40 at night my lights off mid to 6 am I have never seen my temps over 82 in the summer fans.. Laser temp gage indicates the driver at 75 % 110degrees face of the lights 94 degrees . If it holds up well worth the investment.. Hope this helps! I had a farmerlite 320 watt that ran 5 degrees hotter. less watts

The pictures don't do it justice
First of all FedEx sucks. Package to be delivered by 8pm,well it was 11:30 am. With it not being in a box that covers "what's inside", potential of theft. Now to the light,OMG this is a beast it is HEAVY. Absolutely beautiful,if it was human you'd consider dating it (LOL) Have it hooked up,very nice. Styrofoam inserts to protect "drone features"when retracted. Thought out nicely. Will update as my grow proceeds. Right out the box impressive. Whisper quiet.

Good light for the RIGHT price!
My plants grew very well with this light. The quality in the flowers are excellent! Nice yield this harvest. Very easy dimmer knob to turn and the PPFD is what it says. I would buy it again.

Expanding ability
We liked for the ability to expand the growing space for our basil seedlings. We couldn’t get them to daisy chain as instructed, but our workaround was satisfactory.
