MST-10 Disposer Tool, Cutlery Guard, Plunger, Scraper, Stopper , White

My wife saw one of these at a friend's house and wanted one immediately. There's not much to say about it except that is does everything it says it does very well.You can use it to cram food into the disposal, so you don't have to get your hands dirty.You can use it as a stopper to replace the one that came with the sink, you know, the one that lets the water drain out slowly. This one actually keeps the water in the sink as long as you want.Finally, you can insert it halfway into the drain, where it will let water out, but keep cutlery where it belongs.A great little gizmo.

I needed something for a primary purpose: pushing things through the disposal's splash guard. I don't typically look for the cheapest thing out there, but look for the best thing for the job. Others cost more, but would hardly bankrupt anybody. Yet this one does the job and more. It sits in the opening in a way that won't damage the splash guard below. It can be left so that the bottom ring is flush with the flange, so water drains and most particles will wash down the drain, yet items won't fall in. It's practical for pushing larger items, can be pushed down to use as a stopper, and comes with multiple rings so appropriately sized ones can be used.Setting it up merely required putting on the rings. The instructions hinted that their tips would make it easier, giving me the impression that it would be harder than I might have hoped for without instructions. Yet it was easy enough that no instructions or tricks were really needed. The rings did all come pressed together and at first glance they seemed to have multiple grooves, but once I pulled them apart from each other, the rest was simple.I had initially considered buying this together with a few alternatives so I could see which one I liked best. Then I decided that if I didn't like this one, it was cheap enough that I could always buy something else if it didn't work out. I'm glad that I got this first. It's everything I need.

I bought this over another one that was just a utensil guard because this one was also a stopper. The stopper works great but when in the utensil guard position, it always slips down and stops up the sink instead. I actually still like and use it, but it would have been nice for it to work exactly like it was advertised. It was a little hard for me to put the rubber gaskets on, but since they need to be the correct size and need to be tight, I'm not sure what else could have been done.It was difficult for me to put 3 or 4 stars, so consider this a 3.5 star rating.

I’ve had this one for 8 years similar to its predecessor. I only get new ones because after all these years the gaskets become flimsy. I wish I could merely replace those instead of the entire tool.

This item ships with 2 different sized rubber gaskets, but even the larger size will not hold it in the cutlery guard position which is supposed to let water pass. It will stay up until water hits it, but then will fall into the opening blocking all water from passing. It works well as a scraper and a stopper, but I bought one for each of my houses specifically for the cutlery guard and pusher features, but have the same problem in both houses. I contacted the manufacturer who seemed oblivious of the problem, and sent me new gaskets, but they were the exact same size as the ones that came with the item.

Good value for the money, and works as described. I have owned this same disposer tool for many (many!) years and finally needed to replace it due to general grossness/grodiness. I withheld one star from my review only because the old one I had was designed to allow you to plug the sink to fill it with water - this one is too small to plug my sink. I wish it was the same size as my old one.

Works like it should getting food down to the blades to shred food.
