Just started getting into Celtic Rock/Punk and decided to get this to play along. lol I think I need to practice some more before I start a band. lol The whistle seems to be well constructed and relatively easy to play, I think there’s just a steeper learning curve than I expected. For the record, I play several other instruments so I understand how that goes. Definitely worth the purchase, even if you get it just to annoy your kids and play “Concerning Hobbits”. lol

Nicely packaged and a really nice brass whistle instrument (not a toy). I look forward to learning to play it.

I have several Irish whistles, it's a hobby, and I like to find deals on different sounding whistles. I can't see why there'd be any issue at all with this set. The Walton whistle is a classic; ok the one in this kit may be a little cheaper than their best known model, but for this price what would anyone expect. The fact that this whistle STILL does sound nice and is easy to play for a beginner or hobbyist makes it at least worth the 4 stars, at least, and the price is so cheap I thought it was a joke. No joke! (I got these when there was a deal and the price was a total of less than $6!) The book is fantastic and even includes the whistle-tabs for those that don't have experience reading music. Again, I can't get over the price and it even had to make the trip through customs just to get here. I taught advanced progressive guitar techniques for many years, and I would recommend this to anyone that's a beginner and wants to experience the tin whistle before deciding to invest in more valuable instruments. It's TOTALLY playable and even sounds similar to a few other whistles I have. If you want to spend more and know what you're doing with these already, then you don't really need the cd & book. Inexpensive entry level for learning tin whistle? YES. ~JSV

This is a cheap toy. But, hey, that's what I was looking for. It's a beginner's whistle. You learn on this. It doesn't sound very good at all. The holes are huge. A child's fingers wouldn't be able to completely cover the holes. It would be so frustrating. There is a book with some instructions on how to use it. Then it has the tablature for like two dozen songs. The songs are basic like old McDonald had a farm. You learn on these easy simple tunes. It also comes with a CD. Who uses CDs? My computer doesn't even have a CD port. But the CD has recordings of someone playing the songs in the book. This is a fantastic starter kit to learn. Yeah.

I had to use a drill bit on the top hole as it was sounding like a police whistle instead of a tin whistle... it barely helped.. a little disappointed, but I am still a fan of the company. The top whole also had a small sliver of tin in the hole I plucked out with tweezers, but for some reason the hole still wants to let out a police whistle.. I don't mind the squeaks and such it has naturally, but the high sometimes train whistle sound (does that too) just throws me off and disheartens me to play it at all. I gave 5 stars, but I took it down to 4 in voicing my opinion only... I hope it does not rust or something from having to correct the hole. the sound is almost perfect now, but it still, as I said, whistles. way higher than any of the other notes, like 2.5 -3 times higher. On more rare occasions the E' does it which I can live with but I am more troubled by the D' note.

I'm not an experienced Penny whistler however I do play flute and this little gem appears to be solid. Plays well just learning to adjust my breath to hit that low "D" Came with no dents in a cardboard box with a little music leaflet with fingering instructions and 3 short tunes. "Ode to Joy" sounds weird because of the key but I appreciate it anyway. Did not come with a case but for this price it's not surprising. I bought a little recorder case pictured which fits pretty well it was about $5

I'm sorry that I missed the return window for this product. It is not that easy to learn and no matter how hard I tried, it sounded like I was strangling a cat. I watched online videos for beginners -- that didn't help. I literally tried everything. I will probably just donate this to my local library for their book sale. It comes with a book and a CD but neither were very helpful. I ended up ordering something a little more expensive from a reputable source in Ireland. Hopefully that will work out better for me. I play the dulcimer so wanted to have something to give variety to my music --- this wasn't it!

真鍮製のkey D管は両指の触感がよく好きです。 管尻にビニル管等を20~30mm 程度足してチューニングすると、神楽笛6穴 ９本調子とほぼ同じ音程になりました。郷土芸能神楽舞の横笛は、小、中学生にとってはなかなか音が出ないので、これを使って練習をさせてみました。 音は問題なく出るし結構覚えも早かったです。 洋楽器と和楽器との融合 楽しみです。

Très bien pour démarrer l'apprentissage de la flûte irlandaise, CD et partition. Flûte en laiton, bec plastique. Se complète bien avec un tuto sur le web. Achat à recommander.

Für 10 Euro ist die Tin Whistle total zu empfehlen. Ich wollte mit irischer Musik anfangen und mir einmal ansehen, ob die Tin Whistle ein geeignetes Instrument für mich ist. Der Klang ist nicht so schön "rauchig" wie man ihn bei besseren Modellen kennt. Aber es kommen Töne raus und auch in den Höhen lässt sie sich mit etwas Übung gut spielen. (Man muss dazu sagen, dass ich schon viele Musikinstrumente spiele. Jeder, der Blockflöte spielen kann, sollte schnell mit der Tin Whistle spielen können) Das Buch ist sehr hilfreich, sodass man schnell die Griffe lernt. Und auch unter den einzelnen Liedern steht unter jeder Note der entsprechende Griff, sodass man auch ohne Notenkenntnisse schon schnell alte und neue irische Lieder spielen kann. Die CD habe ich mir angehört. Darauf ist nicht nur die Stimme der Tin Whistle von den jeweiligen Liedern aus dem Buch, sondern auch zusätzlich noch Begleitung. Für blutige Anfänger sicher hilfreich, für mich jedoch nicht zwingend notwenig. Insgesamt hat sich der Kauf für mich gelohnt. Ich habe mir mittlerweile ein paar sehr gute gebrauchte Tin Whistles zugelegt. Allen Anfängern empfehle ich den Kauf.

It was a good little whistle,lovely it being from Ireland in a lovely box ,just was a bit annoyed with the postage as it was more than the whistle
