Great Hohner quality, sounded great on stage. The real deal.

Loud, bends nicely, stiff in the upper range
Decent harp for the money. Good solid sound, especially in the mid-range. A bit stiff in the upper range, but overall good for the money.

Good Harp
Superior at bending notes. This harp makes bending easy compared to the marine band 1896. Smooth comb (plastic) and extremely responsive. My only complaint with this harp is that the 5 draw reed 'went out' after 2 months of playing (3-4 hours/week.) A friend of mine claims the special 20 to be his favorite harp, but recently experienced the same problem. It's a good harp at an affordable price and is a favorite of many. I'd like for it to be a little more durable, but it's still definitely worth purchasing.

comparable to Lee Oskar
I started off playing Marine Band harmonicas about 40 years ago but I didn't like the wooden comb (because they would swell after time), so I switched to Lee Oscar when those came out (in 1983), not knowing that the Special 20 also used plastic. When I found out recently, I decided to try one, in the key of A. I had a Lee Oscar harp in the same key so that I could compare the two. They were almost identical, except that the S20 had a slightly brighter tone. The Hohner had one advantage. It has a much nicer case (two layers of plastic & it opens at the front instead of the side). I'll buy either brand from now on, probably which ever is less expensive. I'll also watch to see which one proves to be more durable. One pain with both brands: they use small bolts instead of screws to keep the metal covers in place. Good luck getting them back together if you need to take them apart. The tiny bolt is almost impossible to work with; at least with my gorilla hands.

Clean crisp sound, not difficult to bend notes. Smooth plastic body is gentle on the lips. On mine, the #3 hole (E) was a little stiff blowing out at first but eventually loosened up. According to my tuner App, it seems tuned a bit sharp, but I don't know if that's normal.

I'm replacing my older Marine Band wooden harps with Special 20 plastic comb models. Rich bright sound, a joy to play. These harps can be pricey but I got this one in the key of A for under $45 (they are $80+ plus at the local music store). The free on-line lessons are fantastic. That's an extra $20 value!

What’s to say. The Special 20 is a wonderful harp. I own many. No air leaks. Out of the box well tuned. Extremely comfortable in your hands. A great price on here too. 👋🤠🎵
