Awesome family fun scope.
Perfect starter scope for kids and family. Pretty good optics. Included eye pieces are pretty good for back yard scoping but could be better for night sky. Will definitely get better eye pieces. Love that it can be set down on any flat surface without a tripod. Makes on demand sky watching easy. Great size. When not in use it sits on an end table and makes for nice decor.

Just plain fun
I was looking for a cheap reflector telescope to use for teaching people how they work, and I wanted something that I wouldn't mind getting damaged by six year olds. This more than fills that bill. In addition to showing how a reflector works, it produces a pleasing image. It is so easy to use that even the young kids can adjust the pointing and focus (with some supervision). The red dot finder is very handy for basic alignment, and easy to use (if a little flimsy and difficult to adjust). This is a good starter telescope, though if it isn't dusty a year from now (meaning it is still getting used) I would recommend stepping up to a better quality scope to see more objects with better image quality. The ONE REAL DRAWBACK to this type of mount is that you require a table to use it (or be willing to lay on the ground). When I teach, I have a table, but I rarely use it outside at night. That's where the tripod mounted models are better. If you have a picnic table or other sturdy surface to put it on, though, go for it.

Good Product
The telescope was purchased as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. Her father stated that he was impressed with ease of use and product quality.

A Real Disapointment
I bought this to be our grab and go telescope. It's a real mixed bag. I really wanted to like it, but ultimately it is a disappointment. On the plus side, I was able to find a couple Messier objects. Granted, they were bright ones, but still better than cheap department store telescopes. I like that it has a super wide field of view due to its short focal length. It makes finding deep space objects a whole lot easier. That's the good and the reason for an extra star. It all fell apart however when the telescope was turned to the planets and moon. The optics are so out of alignment that anything bright, like a planet, appears as just a smear of light. The moon works a little better, but due to the misalignment, the focus is sharp on one side and fades towards the other. This would be easy to fix if the telescope had an adjustable primary mirror, but it doesn't. The mirror is actually just glued to the back of the telescope so there's no was to fix it. Orion markets this telescope as being best for lunar and planetary observation, but the one I got is the absolute opposite. I wish I would have saved the box or turned it towards Jupiter or Venus sooner. It would have definitely gone back. At least it was cheap, so I'm not out too much money.

Nice for Kids
This is a great intro telescope for kids. It will not show you the great details of a more expensive telescope, but is great for its intended audience. For kids, it is very user friendly and sturdy. It is very easy to set up and very easy to site in on the moon or planets.

Very nice telescope for a young child
Very nice telescope for a young child. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is it is represented as a reflector telescope but on the box it is a refractor telescope. We were looking for a reflector so a little disappointed. Other wise it is a very good telescope.

Great buy For kids and beginners
Great microscope for beginners or for someone who has never used a microscope before. I purchased this microscope for my 5 year old. She was not able to adjust the settings on her own, but I think that would be difficult for any 5 year old to do. It was a little tricky to get the right focus, but once you focused in on the moon it was beautiful to look at.
